Color by word & color by number

An Easter picture with a word or a math fact in every space. Students read each one and color it by the key, which is quick to check at a glance. Each sheet comes with an answer key.

Game boards

An Easter game board with word cards to cut apart, from the bunny at START to the nest of eggs at FINISH. Roll a die, move, then read, spell or use the word you land on. A good fit for centers, small groups and a calm activity on party day.

Hands-on & multisensory

Activities students touch, build and move, which help a lot of early readers and many students with disabilities. Ideas for using them are further down the page.

Reading passages & writing prompts

Original Easter reading passages for kindergarten through 5th grade, a story and a nonfiction passage for each grade — chicks, cottontails, egg dye, the White House Egg Roll, Ukrainian pysanky and the strength of an egg — with comprehension questions and an answer key. Plus story starters, journal prompts and imagination prompts.

Make it hands-on

Letter egg hunt

Put a letter tile inside each plastic egg and hide them around the room. Students open each egg they find, say the sound, and build a word from the Easter list on the table. Watch closely with small items.

An egg hunt for everyone

Hide eggs at different heights, including some on tables a student in a wheelchair can reach, and give out stickers or tiles instead of candy so students with food allergies can join in. A short social story the day before helps students who find a busy hunt hard.

Build it before you write it

On a Read it, Make it, Write it sheet, students make each word with letter tiles, playdough, pipe cleaners or building bricks before writing it. Building the word first gives them more ways to remember it.

Make coloring easier

Print color by word sheets at 11 x 17, use dot markers instead of crayons, or have students trace the word before coloring. A student can also point to the crayon while a partner reads the word.

Are these Easter worksheets free?
Yes. Every activity on this page is free to make and print, and you do not need an account to print.
Can I use my own spelling or sight words?
Yes. Each activity opens in a worksheet maker with Easter words filled in. Replace them with your own list, and the sheet updates as you type.
Is there a version for a school that does not celebrate Easter?
Yes. Our spring worksheets have the same kinds of activities about seeds, rain, birds and gardens, with no holidays on them.
Do these work for special education?
Yes. You choose how many words go on a sheet, the line size and type, and whether to print an answer key. The hands-on activities, letter tiles and game boards are built for small groups and students who learn best by doing.
Can students do them on a tablet?
Color by word, game boards and letter tiles are made for printing. Many other worksheet types on the site can be practiced digitally or assigned to students with a teacher account.
